David: I attended Mitchell Auto Group's annual Swedish Car Show in Simsbury, Connecticut. Mitchell Auto Group specializes in Volvos, but they were a licensed Saab dealer prior to the company's demise. However, despite no longer selling Saab cars, they are the operators of the Saab Parts Counter website, which provides OEM and NOS Saab parts for newer Saab vehicles. With beautiful weather, I took a few photos of some of the cars in attendance. Here are some of the classic Saabs and Volvos that attended, plus some extras.
A good showing of some Incas and "flatnose" Saabs. Jake's '83 won best Saab in show... and for good reason.
Arguably the newest Saab at the show.
A very, very well preserved model, with a color matching valve cover in Talladega Red.
The only Sonett at the show. This '72 Sonett has been fully restored, and repainted in Sunset Orange, or Sonett Orange, as it was officially marketed as.
Yes, I had the pleasure of sitting inside this car! This is the second Sonett I've sat inside, fun fact.
A very intriguing "NG" 900: This car rides on the Gary Fisher edition 9-5 rims, and has been wrapped in an uncommon copper color, making for a one of a kind car, that honestly, does not get the spotlight as much as it should.
So remember that red 900 SPG from earlier? Here's the
I don't think I've seen an example this nice before. This is nearing showroom quality!
Another nice example of a late '90s - early '00s Saab, this time a 9-3.
I believe this was the only 122 in attendance.
This car won best in show, and for good reason!
As you can see, this 240 is not completely stock. It features some gold basket-weave rims, a wooden MoMo steering wheel, and some auxiliary gauges. I believe the power plant was a modified B230f "Red Block."
Talk about a car with aura.
This 740 has over 400,000 miles on it. What's even more impressive is that this car traveled from British Columbia to this show in Simsbury, Connecticut. For perspective, that's over 3000 miles of driving!
Featuring: 1978 99 EMS, 2006 9-3 NEVS conversion, 2008 9-3 Sport Combi, 9-3 Sport Sedan... plus a husky!
