Happy fall! We're returning to an older format of ONEC, with more impromptu style photos. These, personally, give a more witty and personal approach to the blog that I think was removed when the format became more, well, formal around 2024. With our hiatus in 2025, we're making a return for the year's end, and hopefully a bigger come back in 2026!
Look at this beauty, and no I'm not talking about Daniel's Saab this time! These old Mercedes with color matched rims are some of my favorite cars from the early 1980s, just because of the style and class they tout. What a looker.
What a shot! One of the greatest cars ever manufactured was seen casually roaming the streets of Connecticut! The Citroën DS, produced for 20 years from 1955 to '75 was ahead of its time in so many ways. From an aerodynamic design, to a hydraulic suspension, to pioneering safety features, the DS remains one of the most enigmatic and revolutionary vehicles ever produced.
I feel that it would be important to note that this DS was photographed in another revolutionary vehicle from Europe... can you guess what it is?
I really wish I got better photos of this old Swede. You can't even tell it's a wagon. But trust me, it is! I promise, ok?
Cue that Van Halen cassette and break out your short shorts! We're going back to the '80s!
Cool Ford, but is that a Saab 99???
I can't say I remember the first time I saw one of these... and it'll probably be the last.
While at Mill Pond Diner in Wareham, MA, I photographed two classic cars, and one Saab accidentally. Here we have a very early 1973 or '74 Chevy C-10 and a 1949 Plymouth Coupe. The white Saab 9-5 just happened to be passing by.
Here is another lovely Mercedes W123 car with color matching rims. I really cannot overstate how much I love these cars with the matching rims. They really give the car a classy look, especially from a time when color matched rims were out of style.
This is a Mercedes Benz 240 D that was photographed on I-195. Despite the similar color to the car above, these are not the same vehicle. This W123 car touted Maine plates, and I could only imagine was on its way back, and maybe taking a pit stop on the Cape.
Happy Halloween ONEC readers! Here's some treats for you, and no tricks! Feast your eyes on some classic German goodies, like a custom Porsche 944, a lovely VW Type 2 Kombi, and some fun-sized Mk. II and III Golfs. If you're really digging for more, there's a BMW E30 hiding on a lift in the background. See if you can spot it.
Enjoy one of the last remaining examples of these before they're gone for good.
