The first car show of 2026 is in the books! A handful of Volvos plus one Saab met up at our local IKEA for some pre-blizzard excitement. For a cold Winter day, there was some great turnout. These old Swedes are made for this weather after all!
The only non-Volvo in attendance. Perhaps it can be an honary Volvo for today?
What a front end shot. I've got to say, this might be my favorite photo of any 740. It reminds me of the Yes, it will fly advertisement from Volvo in 1985.
Skyler's 1993 Volvo 240 Estate
Purely function over form, this car was a beast. It features the following modifications:
Honda Rims
Removed rear bumper
Removed interior panels
No power steering
No A/C
What does it have? Pure DIY and Volvo spirit!
A close up of a our friend Amy's '89 240. She relocated the Volvo badge to the bottom right corner of the grille, and I really like it. We decided to highlight this mod here. Like Skyler's wagon, this 240 is also a daily driver, albeit more stock. There is still plenty of personality and charm that makes it uniquely hers.
A rare example of a '92 240 GL, when the "GL" trim was resurrected for one year for the 240. It was previously discontinued in 1989 for the '90 model year, but mysteriously returned in '92. This car features over 327,000 miles, with a working odometer. A five speed transmission is present as well. It also has a CB radio! Of course, you can see the owner has an affinity for cassette culture, with a nice display of some classic albums in the passenger seat. My personal favorite is the Rush album.
You might remember this beautiful 1995 850R from Swedish Meet Ball - October '25. It's returned again for this meet, and we're glad to see it. back! This similar black 1998 S70 is a five speed manual with some sweet BBS rims. What a beauty
